Guitar Art and ethics

Guitar basics

Use a digital tuner to tune up the guitar, following the instructions.

Once tuned use the pointing finger of your left hand to press the first string at the first fret. Pluck the string with your right hand  thumb ( or pointing finger). Now skip one fret and play on the third fret. Skip fourth and play the fifth fret. Play the sixth fret. Now play eighth fret. Play the tenth fret. Play the twelfth fret, and lastly the thirtienth fret. The sequence of notes is complete.

If you play these selected notes in a right tempo (every tick of the seconds hand of a wall clock) you'll produce a beautiful sound called : Do Re Mi Fah Soh La Ti Do.

You can try this on every string of your guitar.

Lesson 2

In guitar it is important to play harmonically. The above notes you just played was sequence of notes or scale melody. To play harmonically you need to play two or more notes together also called chords. My suggestion to learn a group of chords to begin playing quickly would be G, C, D and Eminor. Check for chord diagrams in other sites or use a mobile app to learn it fast. Eminor is the easiest chord. You can hold this chord with your left hand middle and ring finger. Now, use your right hand to strike all the strings near the sounding hole. Keep striking it down while counting a steady beat of 1234 ,1234, 1234.....etc. First try to play all chords seperately as above. It will take 2-3 days to start sounding good. Even if your sound is not clear do not worry. Next try changing chords keeping the same steady beat. Do this between two chords. First between G and C. Then C and D. Next G and D. Keep practicing these changes for some time. You can also use a metronome to keep your beat counts steady. Wait till you get these changes happen smoothly. When you can make these changes happen smoothly you are one step ahead in playing some songs. Choose songs with these chords  and simple rhythm and melody line. How about 4 strong winds, beautiful sunday, spanish lady.....etc

Art basics

To start your art basic lessons, I would advice you to keep things simple. Use a 2B pencil and  white sheets of paper.

Scribble around your blank paper to free up your hand. K eep your hand loose.

Take another sheet of paper and try drawing straight lines - horizontal, vertical and diagonal. Draw some geometrical shapes / all free hand. Next draw some organic shapes like tree, clouds, amoeba etc. Draw some elipse (flattened circles).

Take another sheet of paper and with a brisk movement of hands from side to side proceed from top to bottom. No white of the paper should show. Do  the same exercise creating a gradation from dark to light.

This should be an everyday opening exercise before you start to draw anything.

Lesson 2

Art isn't a boring pastime when you have to draw just lines and shapes. Before you start using your creativity though ,it would be advisable to sketch things from around your surroundings. It can be anything - foliage near your house, everyday objects about the home, junkyard in your backyard, animals birds .....just about anything.

Do this in sketching when you keep your hand light and draw rapid images without much detail. Yet , bring in the character and feel of your subject. Close your eyes and feel the atmosphere and your subject to gain maximum benefit from your sketch.

Ethics in Guitar and Art

Remember all fields of art require many sacrifices in life. Do not follow the rat race of the world community. Build upon your body of work. If you feel satisfied with what you do, it will be reached by the art fraternity.

You will recieve your accolades in due time. Aim for the stars but do not trample on anyone to recieve your trophy.
